Our cellphones are usually one of the most expensive things we have on our person, and most people are so used to handling them that they don’t even think about it. How many times do we pull out our cellphones each day in public to check the time, the weather, a text message… the list goes on and on.
However, pickpockets often target cellphones because they are easy to grab. Here are a few tips to keep yourself, and your phone, safe.
Make sure you always hold your phone securely, not loosely in a hand. If your grip on cellphones looks weak, a pickpocket can easily jump in and snatch it from you.
Keep an eye on your surroundings at all times. Don’t be so lost in your cellphones screen that you don’t see people watching you, passing you, or looking suspicious.
Finally, always lock your phone! Cellphones that obviously have a password are less likely to be taken if the pickpocket is paying attention, because it’s a lot more work for the reward.
