The Skincare Mogul Who Built–And Burned–A Multi-Million-Dollar Company

Super-trendy skin care brands Deciem and The Ordinary shot founder Brandon Truaxe to success–and then, within just two years, everything fell apart ever as skin care sales continued to skyrocket. From bizarre criminal accusations to restraining orders, the story of Deciem is a wild ride.

In 2018, Truaxe began posting strange messages on social media accusing everyone in the company of committing serious “financial crimes.” The Deciem board successfully ousted the CEO; afterwards, he was slapped with a restraining order. Tragically, Truaxe was found dead outside his apartment building in January 2019, having fallen from a balcony. The brand he founded, however, continues to be successful to this day.
