The Covid-19 lockdown has caused companies to work harder at earning your business by reaching out directly through emails and targeted ads. However, this also means that scammers are sending out fake emails and ads.
Be careful. While there are many legitimate apps out there, there are just as many, if not more fake ones. As soon as they have your name from one legitimate site, they’ll start targeting you. Make sure to only sign-up to a site that you have gone to directly. Not sign-up from any link in an email that is sent to you.
If you receive offers from what seem to be legitimate businesses, check the URL by mousing over any internal links. This will show you what is real and what is fake.
Be aware that they may use links that sound similar but aren’t authentic. For example: Burger King’s URL is BK.Com. Fake sites might try to use BurgerKingBK.com, or some other combination.
