Sunday evening at about 5 p.m., at the New Jersey home of Federal Judge Esther Salas, a man dressed as a FedEx driver murdered her son and injured her husband.
Judge Salas, the first Latina judge to serve on the federal bench in New Jersey, was not hurt.
According to reports the judge’s son, a freshman at Catholic University, answered the door and was immediately shot through the heart.
The judges’ husband was shot multiple times. The condition of the husband is not immediately known.
A suspect “remains at-large” a law enforcement official said.
At this time the investigators are “trying to get a hard make on the vehicle” to track the suspect.
In the past the judge had received threats, but nothing recently.
In a statement, the FBI Newark office said “The FBI is investigating a shooting that occurred at the home of Judge Esther Salas in North Brunswick Township, New Jersey earlier this evening, July 19.
