Family of Carol Baskin’s Missing Husband Offers $100,000 for Information

For the last 23 years, authorities have been searching for Don Lewis. Baskin’s husband vanished on August 18, 1997 without a trace.

Lewis’s family is speaking out and offering a $100,000 reward for information leading to the whereabouts of the 60-year-old millionaire and animal sanctuary owner who mysteriously disappeared.

When Lewis vanished, deputies found his van abandoned at an airport where he allegedly planned to take a trip to Costa Rica. Police found no signs of a struggle, but nor did they find proof that Lewis ever left the country.

The case was once again brought to light during the Netflix release of Tiger King: Murder, Mayhem and Madness, about the longtime rivalry between Baskin and Joe Maldonado-Passage aka Joe Exotic.

Exotic claims in the show that Baskin murdered her husband and then fed him to the tigers. Baskin has denied she had anything to do with it.

In June, the sheriff declared that the will of Don Lewis was forged. Sheriff Chronister of Hillsborough County alleged to reporters that two experts have deemed Lewis’ will “100 percent a forgery,” but the statute of limitations for forgery has expired.

Lewis’s youngest daughter Gale Rathborne told reporters she just wants closure.
